MEET ALLISON

Allison DeGazon

Her Story

Dr. Allison Lisa Gordon is an entrepreneur and public servant at heart who wears many hats and functions as a leader in many capacities. Her most important role is being a committed and austere parent to her four children, which includes a set of twins. She credits her personal and professional success to her father, Leo DeGazon, Sr. and his high work ethics and to her late mother, Jennifer DeGazon, who executed everything in excellence and raised her with a strong spiritual conviction.

Dr. Gordon recently earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Creative Leadership for Innovation and Change after being selected by The Virgin Island’s Academic and Cultural Awards Endowment Program. Her doctoral defense compared two small island economies and their public policies to increase resilience from macro-economic shocks. She is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Professional in Process Improvement and she is adept in change management. She proudly holds an MBA from UVI and completed coursework toward a Master of Science in Technical Communication from Mercer University where she holds two graduate level certificates. Dr. Gordon is the owner of Cruzan Organix Farm, Inc. and Business Strategies, Inc.

In November 2018, Dr. Gordon successfully earned a seat in the 33rd Legislature as a Senator in the St. Croix District. She served as the Chair of Economic Development, Regulations and Agriculture. In this capacity she worked diligently to pass an astounding 14 bills in her first term that advanced economic and agriculture development and a myriad of socio-economic issues in the territory.

Dr. Gordon is a member of several economic research groups in the Caribbean, Canada, and the mainland. She currently represents the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean Agri-Economic Society and is working with the Chair of her Doctoral Committee to publish small island economy research related materials in reputable journals to spur Caribbean economic development.

Currently, Dr. Gordon continues to be a local philanthropist, an advocate for agriculture development, and a promoter of efficient policy development and implementation through data compilation, analysis, and economic research. Her most immediate professional goal is to help strengthen and expand the economy of the United States Virgin Islands.
